Swedish Homes to Get 10 Fold Speed Increase

Swedish Homes to Get 10 Fold Speed Increase

October 2, 2016

Residents in Swedish properties will soon be able to take advantage of high speed internet, in fact it will be ten times faster than the connections they have now.

NEC’s European arm is to provide Swedish network operator, Svenska Fibernät, with a new fibre solution to speed connections.

At the moment these householders can receive 100Mbps, while the new service via AM3100 series multi-service access nodes (MSAN) will push that up to 1 Gbps.

The new initiative is a response to an earlier trial, in the Swedish Uppsala region, of the fibre technology.

Speed of implementation was one of the big draws and Svenska intends to start selling the new package almost immediately.

The company also points to the energy saving aspects of the system, as well as low maintenance requirements, as deciding factors in the decision.
